Anwar Hussain Anwar falls in love with a veiled woman. A chance meeting with an influential Nawab Buland Akhtar Changezi ends up with Anwar teaching poetry to Nawab’s sister, ‘Husna’. Anwar realizes that the woman with the veil was Husna and falls in love with her. Nawab approves of this alliance even though Anwar lives a poor lifestyle. The formal engagement ceremony takes place and arrangements are made for the wedding. Nawab who is reeling under debt soon realizes Anwar’s association with a lowly courtesan, Najma. On the other hand mounting debt pressures force him to take a decision to marry Husna to wealthy Munne Raja who wants to auction the former's mansion and all belongings.
